On Sunday, November 3rd the Stick-lets team was invited to participate in Playfest 2018 at the newly opened Cherry St. Pier here in Philadelphia. PopUpPlay, a Philly-based organization focused on encouraging play and socialization, planned this wonderful event for local families along with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC). Built inside a renovated municipal dock, Cherry St. Pier has become a new favorite gathering space for our city. It was created by Groundswell Design Group, a public space and urban design firm. They have also been behind the popular Summer pop-up Spruce Street Harbor Park that is just a few blocks away from Cherry St. Pier.

Cherry St. Pier features artists’ studios, food, and an expansive covered open space for a variety of Philadelphia-located events. Stick-Lets, alongside PopUpPlay, The Free Library, The Franklin Institute, and Alex’s Lemonade Stand spent the beautiful sunny day with families building Stick-let forts, using upcycled materials to construct mini-golf courses, and allowing kids (and many adults) to let their imaginations run wild. Check out some of the creative constructions by all our new Stick-lets friends. Head over to our Facebook to see more images from this event.
