We are a small business that works toward being green, because we know that small steps in the right direction can make an impact. In 2020, we joined the Canadian-based organization of the name Random Acts of Green (RAOG). Their goal is as follows:
"Our vision is to build a global climate action community where everyone feels empowered to take actions together. Our mission is to prove that any change – no matter how big or how small – can add up to make a big collective impact. Our community recognizes that we all have a part to play in protecting our shared home."
Joining RAOG encouraged us to share the ways we think and behave green. We'd love to share some of our actions with you.
Our Design: A Multipurpose Tool
We'd like to start by discussing our invention. STICK-LETS® were designed to accommodate several needs for a large age range. They are versatile! The silicone joints can be used to create forts, tryout STEAM experiments and concepts, construct garden trellises, contrive camping and survival apparatuses, and beyond. If the young fort builders outgrow our product, the older generation can utilize them for their creative and practical needs!
Our Material: Durable and Safe!
Our goal to create safe and flexible connectors drove our decision to choose 100% silicone rubber. It's durable, weather-resistant, stretchy, safest for children and more environmentally friendly than plastic. Although silicone lasts a very long time and can be tricky to recycle, we knew it was better than the alternative of offering a cheaper material designed to break after a couple months or years of use. STICK-LETS® have to be durable and survive the elements. They also have to stretch to allow for ease of use.
Packaging: Reuse It!
We receive several inbound cartons when receiving our inventory from our manufacturers and local suppliers. We reuse ALL the cardboard boxes when shipping merchandise to our customers. We also reuse all the plastic liners and cardboard carton dividers for our outgoing shipments. Apologies if our appearance isn't always on par with the contents of the package, but we prefer to reuse materials!
Shipping: Less Trips!
When shipping outgoing packages from our warehouse, we opt to schedule less pickups to help reduce trips for the delivery services. We thank our customers for not expecting us to be Amazon-speedy.
We apply the same strategy for incoming shipments from Asia via ship and truck.
Behavior: Appreciation for Mother Nature
Our motto is Because Mother Nature Misses Us! STICK-LETS® were invented to help reconnect children to Mother Nature through play. Our goal is to get children off the screens and back outdoors where they can create life-long memories doing what most children love to do when they are outside -- imagining, creating, and exploring! We hope our open-ended fort building tool helps establish a stronger relationship with, and appreciation for, Mother Nature.
